About the Event
Empower Yoga is a summer movement program for children ages 8 – 12. It teaches therapeutic coping skills through interactive yoga, mindfulness and skill-building activities. It was created in response to the emotional, social and neurological development that occurs during the preteen years. Empower Yoga focuses on developing fundamental life skills in a safe and welcoming environment. It is designed as a fun and empowering guide for youth to experience and implement these vital skills.
In addition to yoga, interactive activities allow participants to learn through different types of instruction, increase self-awareness, and establish healthy relationships. Activities also teach participants how to manage stress and anxiety. These may include journal writing, breathing exercises, meditations, visualizations, arts and crafts, stories, music and games. But the children may not even know they are learning new skills. They just know that they’re having fun!
